Questions and Answers

When using the Functional Medicine model having a diagnosis/condition is actually just the start of your journey. A diagnosis doesn’t tell me anything about YOU - how and why you have developed this condition. I aim to focus on YOU the person with the disease and not just the disease the person has eg RA results in very similar symptoms but can have many different drivers so requires an different bespoke approach for each person.

This depends on so many things; how long you have been struggling with your health, how deep we have to delve to get to your root cause, testing helps identifies these, how motivated you are to comply to the plan, your overall mindset to getting well again.

Most People who attend my clinic are already on a lot of medication and I work closely with your healthcare provider to ensure they are aware of my advice. I also check closely for any interactions but also I support the side-effects you may be experiencing as a result of your medication.

A 3 month programme is the minimum I will work with someone as it takes time to see results with people suffering chronic health or autoimmunity. You are also more likely to need testing and this too takes time to explore your root causes.

As I work with more chronic cases I feel we both as a team need to commit to a longer time in order to delve deeper into your unique needs and desires and to start to see results. Plus ultimately it is cheaper for you to purchase in this way. I do however offer single appointments once a package has been completed on a more ad hoc basis or alternatively you can purchase another block package again, which work out cheaper.

No. I am a fully qualified Functional Medicine Nutritional Therapist and an IFM practitioner and am currently over half way through the certification process.
However even as a certified practitioner it is important to understand that I do not have a medical degree and so I cannot diagnose or ‘treat’ a condition or prescribe medication. I do however work closely with your GP or healthcare provider.

I understand completely that a financial commitment may be difficult so the Windmill 2 & 3 packages offer payment plans.

Windmill 1 is non-refundable.

The level of follow up support will depend on the package you have purchased. You will typically have regular check-ins with your practitioner and they will also be available to answer any quick clarifications you have in between appointments.

In Functional Medicine, an individual’s genetic predisposition, medical conditions, medical treatments, environment and lifestyle factors are central considerations.
Testing can enhance the clinical picture enabling advice to be further personalised to you. The benefits of testing will be discussed with you during your discovery call, but a summary can be seen on the testing page.

Supplements are often used to improve your symptoms more quickly or specifically than perhaps food alone might. Think of them as scaffolding that supports your body until the right foundations are in place and you feel strong enough to take them away again.
Functional testing costs vary quite significantly, e.g. anywhere from around £50 to £600, depending on the test and how comprehensive it is. Having a budget for testing would be very helpful, but not essential.

No, but you do have access to practitioner grade supplements and on occasion a discount code is provided.

I am a ‘complementary’ health practitioner which means I complement conventional medicine and am not an ‘alternative’ to it. I like to feel there is an integrated approach between you, me and your healthcare team.
If you are symptomatic or in a flare then you must be willing to see your doctor or consultant and seek medical advice. It is my preference, with your permission, that we keep the channel of communication open between ourselves and your medical Doctor, so that we can all work together, in an integrated fashion, to support you.
